Master of Science in Mathematics

The MSc Mathematics at TU Darmstadt is an English-taught four-semester programme with four fields of study: Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Data Science, and Interdisciplinary Mathematics. Students must choose one field when applying. The Mathematics field requires two advanced specialisations from seven research areas including algebra, analysis, logic, numerical analysis, optimisation, applied geometry, and stochastics. Business Mathematics pairs one mathematical specialisation in optimisation or stochastics with a second specialisation in economics and a mandatory minor in Information Management. The Data Science field requires two mathematical specialisations focused on data topics, with a mandatory minor in Advanced Computer Science. Interdisciplinary Mathematics pairs a mathematical specialisation with a non-mathematical subject such as computer science, physics, or mechanical engineering. All fields include an elective component and interdisciplinary or general studies courses, which may include internships or non-mathematical courses.
