About the Program

The Master of Science in Computer Engineering at Paderborn University is a research-oriented programme drawing on both computer science and electrical engineering. It is a joint offering of the Departments of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. The programme runs over 4 semesters and is open for entry in both the winter and summer semester. It opens with mandatory modules in computer science (Advanced Computer Architecture and Advanced Networked Systems) and electrical engineering (Circuit and System Design and Statistical Signal Processing). Students then choose a specialisation from six focus areas: Embedded Systems, Nano/Microelectronics, Computer Systems, Communication and Networks, Signal Processing, and Control and Automation. A key element of the programme is the Project Group module, in which teams of approximately eight to sixteen students work together on a research-related project over the course of a year. The final semester is devoted to the Master's project and thesis. The programme is offered at Paderborn University in Paderborn, Germany.
