About the Program

The Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering at Technical University of Darmstadt covers both foundational and forward-looking aspects of aerospace engineering sciences. Core technical areas include structural mechanics, fluid dynamics, flight mechanics, advanced fluid mechanics, avionics, composite structures, compressible and irrotational flow, flight propulsion, high-temperature materials, lightweight engineering, mechatronic systems, and space systems. Compulsory elective areas span fundamentals, digitalisation, and core aerospace engineering topics, alongside electives from the natural sciences and engineering. Additional options include an Advanced Design Project for teamwork on recent research topics, an External Project Work component involving 12 weeks at an industry partner, laboratory tutorials, and general studies from other departments. The programme runs over 4 semesters and can begin in either the winter or summer semester. It concludes with a six-month, full-time Master's thesis. Teaching is offered by aerospace engineering experts, and face-to-face tutorials in small groups are used for topics such as additive manufacturing and cockpit design.
