Mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, materials and manufacturing form the base here, extended into aerodynamics, propulsion, aerospace structures and spacecraft systems. Students choose among pathways in aero fluid and thermal engineering, aerospace structures and manufacturing, and aircraft and spacecraft systems, working with Ansys for simulation and 3DEXPERIENCE for design and lifecycle management. The department's facilities include a wind tunnel and dynamics lab, a manufacturing lab and a ground station, and students join the Formula Bharat and drone development teams.

Chanakya requires a “Valid score in JEE, KCET, COMEDK or any other state entrance exam” — Indian national or state engineering entrance examinations — together with a “Minimum of 65% in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (individually)”.

Applicants outside India should confirm with the university how these entrance requirements apply to them before applying.
