About Master DaZF

Graduates of the Master Deutsch als Zweit- und Fremdsprache (DaZF) at the Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg (PH Freiburg) pursue diverse careers in language education, international education, and related fields. The program integrates scientific foundations, practical experiences, and professional perspectives, with a strong emphasis on empirical research in DaZF and multilingualism. Students gain competencies in scientific methods, research designs, and data analysis, and develop their own research questions, culminating in a master's thesis. International study experiences are encouraged, with opportunities for study or practical stays abroad, and a binational Master DaF with a dual degree in cooperation with the Universidad de Antioquia in Medellín, Colombia. The program includes obligatory internships, where students apply theoretical concepts in real-world teaching contexts, and develop professional competencies in DaZF. The curriculum encompasses key areas such as linguistics, phonetics, and project management in DaZF, with a focus on practical application and research. Modules include Grundlagen und Arbeitsfelder in DaZ/DaF, Erwerb und Vermittlung von Sprachen, and Empirische Forschung in DaZ/DaF. Students also engage in a five-week block internship, which can be completed abroad, and a day internship accompanied by a seminar.
