The MA in Magazine Journalism is an intensive, practical year-long course and is accredited by the Professional Publishers Association (PPA). The course equips you with the skills and knowledge to embrace all the multimedia platforms a modern magazine brand uses, focused on producing print, online, mobile and social media content. You will learn how to write news, interviews, features and produce this content effectively across different content platforms. You will also be trained in key editing processes and the latest digital skills, producing photography, audio, video content and podcasts as well as page layouts. All the skills prepare you for an entry-level job in magazine journalism or working as a freelance. We offer realistic learning experiences that mirror those you’ll face in your career, including the opportunity to pitch your work clearly and confidently and produce a complete magazine. We’re not looking for ready-made journalists, but you will need to demonstrate an interest in current affairs and the magazine industry. We also look for evidence of commitment to a career in journalism through prior relevant work experience, whether paid or unpaid. This course prepares students to work in the UK media.
