About Master in M1 Physique et Applications

Students who excel in numerical and experimental skills will develop expertise in instrumentation de pointe such as lasers, detectors, and electronics for particle accelerators and astronomy, alongside fundamental physics. The M1PA programme, on the campus of Orsay and Plateau de Saclay, combines theoretical and experimental learning to prepare students for specialisms in nuclear energy, medical physics, condensed matter, and spatial optics. Students can pursue eight thematic orientations and complete a mandatory 8-week internship, contributing to a diverse and interdisciplinary research environment.

The first year of this master's degree, the M1PA, provides a strong foundation in fundamental physics, with a curriculum that includes key modules such as Optics and Lasers, Condensed Matter Physics, and Nuclear Physics. These modules are complemented by practical work and tools for the physicist, including programming in Python, signal processing, and measurement techniques. This combination of theoretical and practical learning ensures students gain a robust understanding of the core principles and practical applications of physics.
