Bachelor in Licence - Sciences du langage

Language itself — its structure, use, history, and variation — is the object of study in the Licence - Sciences du langage (Language Sciences), a three-year bachelor programme at the Université de Lorraine - UFR Sciences Humaines et Sociales in Nancy, France. Instruction is in French. Language sciences (or linguistics) approaches language as a natural human phenomenon susceptible to rigorous scientific investigation. Students encounter the core sub-fields of the discipline: phonology (sound systems), morphology (word structure), syntax (sentence structure), semantics (meaning), and pragmatics (language in context). Many continue to a master's in linguistics, French as a foreign language, speech therapy, or computational language technology. The programme starts in September and runs for 3 years.
