Students on the Licence Philosophie complete the UE Portail ‘Philosophie’ in their first year, exploring areas such as esthetics and philosophy of the arts, moral and political philosophy, and notions of philosophy.

The programme promotes a broad, humanistic education, with a strong focus on reasoning, reflection, writing, and eloquence. Teaching is structured in six semesters, with a blend of lectures and tutorials.

Faculty expertise spans the history of philosophy, epistemology, philosophy of science, moral and political philosophy, aesthetics, and the philosophy of language. Students can also explore complementary subjects in the social sciences and education.

Students can undertake optional work placements from the first year onwards, gaining real-world experience in the working environment.

Training is also available in the form of four-year apprenticeship contracts for those wishing to gain professional experience.
