About Bachelor in Licence Informatique

The Licence Informatique at the Université de Saint-Étienne offers a three-year curriculum where students delve into modules like Algorithmique et Complexité and Bases de Données 2. This programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for careers in software development, database administration, and web development. The programme is available in both a classic pathway and an alternance (work-study) pathway, with the latter including 34 weeks of work experience in the third year. The alternance pathway enables students to gain professional experience while earning their degree, with the university and enterprise sharing the responsibility for their education and training.

Students in the programme acquire not only technical skills but also linguistic and professional competencies. They learn to conduct projects, source and utilise information, and apply digital tools effectively. The programme also emphasises interdisciplinarity, with shared courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and earth sciences.

In the alternance pathway, students spend between 3 to 4 days per week at the university and 1 to 2 days per week in a workplace for the first part of the year, shifting to 2 days at the university and 3 days in the workplace for the latter part. The final months of the year are spent entirely in the workplace.
