Master in Language and literature studies (German)

Delivered in English by the Philological School of Higher Education in Wrocław, in Wrocław, Poland, this master's program in German Language and Literature Studies runs part-time over two years, across four semesters. As with the full-time track, it is offered in three specialisations: Specialised Translation Studies in Polish-German and German-Polish, Teaching German as a Foreign Language, and a general specialisation with free choice among available courses and no fixed professional profile. Seminars draw on linguistics, applied linguistics, literary studies, and culture studies. The part-time format involves eight weekends of classes each semester, held Saturday and Sunday between eight in the morning and eight at night. The Specialised Translation track requires a good command of both Polish and German, at a minimum of C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference. Translation-track students must complete at least four full specialised translation courses, accumulating at least twenty-four ECTS credits in the process. Graduates can proceed to doctoral-level study or move into professional roles in translation or the broader language industry. The part-time structure is designed for students who need to combine graduate study with work or other obligations while still working toward a full master's qualification in German-language translation, teaching, or cross-cultural communication.
