Bachelor in Journalism and social communication

Journalism and Social Communication is a bachelor's program taught in English over three years at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, Poland, with yearly tuition of 8,400 PLN. The program prepares graduates for work as journalists and media employees across press, radio, television, and online and mobile media, as well as related roles such as public relations specialist, promotion and communication specialist, internet marketing specialist, internet analyst, press spokesperson, media and communication consultant, photographer, and computer graphic designer. Students complete 120 hours of compulsory work placements in traditional and online media, public relations agencies, advertising agencies, promotion offices, press officers' offices, and local government and government administration institutions, among other settings. Professional practice also takes place through the university's own Media Center, which includes Radio KUL and TV KUL, and through student activities such as the Scientific Club of Students of Journalism and Social Communication, the editorial office of "Coś Nowego," the Fotpress Photo Gallery, and the Passion TV Television Agency, plus involvement in the Media Knowledge Olympiad, the Media Olympiad, the Film Knowledge and Social Communication Olympiad, and an intercollegiate rhetorical competition. The curriculum builds a professional journalist's or communication specialist's toolkit, combining reporting and editing skills with training relevant to public relations and digital communication. Programs of this type generally cover media law, ethics, and multimedia production alongside supervised practical placements, since real newsroom or agency experience is central to developing the competencies needed for new media careers, including content creation, audience analysis, and cross-platform storytelling.
