The International Doctoral Programme in Computational Neuroscience at Technische Universität Berlin is hosted by the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Berlin (BCCN Berlin) and is part of the broader Einstein Center for Neuroscience Berlin. It is an interdisciplinary research programme that draws on neurobiology, neuropsychology, cognitive science, computer science, mathematics, physics, and engineering to study how the brain works through computational and theoretical approaches. The programme spans six semesters, structured in two phases. The first phase of one to two years involves attending courses, preparing the research topic, and presenting at doctoral seminars; it concludes with a qualifying exam. The second phase of approximately two years is centred on research work and also requires participation in and presentation at doctoral seminars, ending with the doctoral defence. Each student follows an individualised curriculum that can include courses at Berlin's universities, related graduate programmes, summer schools, workshops, and soft-skills training. Supervision is provided by one principal thesis adviser and one co-adviser, together with up to three additional senior scientists forming the student's doctoral committee. Doctoral students in computational neuroscience may apply for association with the BCCN Berlin programme and gain access to lectures for doctoral and Master's students as well as transferable skills courses. The programme is based at Technische Universität Berlin in Berlin.
