Bachelor in Informatics

Informatics is a bachelor's program taught in English at the Silesian University of Technology in Poland, running over seven semesters with yearly tuition of 2400 EUR. The program gives students the knowledge and skills needed to design computer systems and applications, including industrial computer systems, microprocessor and embedded systems, and databases. Students build programming skills, gain a deep understanding of how operating systems and compilers function internally, and study concurrent programming along with the principles of computer graphics and vision. The curriculum also builds skills in constructing, maintaining, and using system software, developing applications, building computer systems and networks, and designing and administering databases deployed across different environments and operating systems. Graduates are prepared to work as software developers for standalone and web applications, databases and data warehouses, computer games, and mobile applications, and they can also move into roles as computer engineers, network and system maintainers, or project managers. The scientific grounding gained during the program also opens paths into company research and development departments or academic research. Informatics as a discipline covers the design and operation of computing systems broadly, and this bachelor's program's mix of systems-level knowledge, programming practice, and hands-on project work is intended to prepare graduates for a wide range of technical roles across software and systems engineering.
