Master in Gerontology Nursing

The programme runs over two years of part-time study. In the first year students complete four mandatory modules covering ageing health assessment, legal and professional issues, contemporary approaches to older-person care and advanced research skills. The second year focuses on dementia, delirium and mental health in older adults, building on the foundations laid earlier.

It is intended for practising nurses on the NMBI live register or health and social care professionals registered with CORU who are already working with older people. Applicants should have a relevant undergraduate qualification and be prepared to apply evidence-based practice in their current posts.

Graduates are prepared to plan and implement person-centred interventions for older adults across acute, community and long-stay settings, and can move into senior clinical, advisory or educational roles within health and social care organisations, or pursue further research.
