Gastronomy and Culinary Arts is the study of food preparation, culinary technique, food science, and the cultural and business dimensions of the food and hospitality industry. Students study cooking techniques, food and beverage management, nutrition, food safety and hygiene, menu planning, and the history and culture of world cuisines, alongside practical kitchen training in professional culinary facilities. Coursework typically combines classroom instruction with hands-on kitchen practice, covering both traditional and contemporary culinary methods as well as the operational side of running food service establishments. Graduates work as chefs, kitchen managers, food and beverage consultants, and culinary entrepreneurs in restaurants, hotels, catering companies, and other hospitality businesses, or continue into further study in gastronomy or hospitality management. The field combines creative and technical culinary skill with practical business knowledge relevant to the food service industry, and students are typically expected to work in real kitchen environments as part of their training. This program is a 4 year bachelor's degree taught in English at Istanbul Okan University in Istanbul, Turkey.
