French for the Workplace 1

The blended format pairs twice-weekly online live classes with a recorded archive, allowing students to revisit any session. A compulsory on-campus assessment and an optional end-of-semester visit to a French-speaking region add practical exposure. The course is aimed at learners with little or no French who need basic communication skills for professional contexts, and it leads to an A1+ level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The study period lasts one semester and carries 10 credits, equivalent to roughly 250 hours of learner time. All assessment is continuous, covering written, oral and aural tasks, and includes a project component. The single mandatory module, French for the Workplace 1, focuses on workplace conversations, text comprehension, short summaries and cultural awareness.
