In Year 3 students spend 12-15 weeks on a work placement, which can be with environmental protection authorities, consultancy firms, the energy sector or state agencies, giving real-world experience in managing natural and man-made resources.

The degree is built on a solid first-year foundation in core science subjects – environment, cell biology, chemistry, mathematics and communication – after which students can adjust their pathway in Year 2. Weekly study combines outdoor field trips, laboratory practicals, computer mapping and classroom activities, and includes optional study abroad semesters in Sweden or short summer schools in the Netherlands and Sweden.
