It is a 12-month full-time programme delivered over three terms. In the autumn term you study two compulsory modules and one or two optional ones; the spring term adds another compulsory module, further optional choices and the start of a 60-credit individual research project, with a project plan submitted at term end. The summer term is devoted entirely to the research project, culminating in a written report and examinations.

Teaching combines lectures, tutorials and practical laboratory work in the School of Engineering’s dedicated electronics facilities, and includes collaboration with industry partners on topics such as wearable computing, wireless access systems and autonomous control. Graduates are prepared for roles in IT, manufacturing, consulting and research.
