In partnership with Autism Hampshire, this 3-year PhD will investigate Dr Rinat Khusainov and Dr Richard Curry's application of edge computing and machine learning to Ambient Assisted Living (AAL). The project will utilise a bespoke research facility with a fully instrumented residential house. The PhD will be supervised by Dr Rinat Khusainov and Dr Richard Curry.

With an increasing elderly population and growing number of people with long-term health conditions, AAL technologies are crucial for future healthcare services. This project will experiment with various sensor technologies in realistic deployment environments and apply the latest edge computing paradigms, including edge and fog computing, federated learning, and deep learning to real life data. The aim is to improve performance, reliability, and privacy in AAL systems and turn AAL system into an edge computing environment.
