About Master in Economics

The MSc in Economics at the University of Münster is a consecutive, research-oriented programme delivered over 4 semesters, with starts available in both the winter and summer semester. The curriculum opens with core modules in advanced microeconomics, advanced macroeconomics, empirical methods, and industrial organisation, establishing a solid theoretical and quantitative base. Students then select from more than 40 elective modules to specialise in areas such as Econometrics and Statistics, Public Economics, Digital and Innovation Economics, Energy and Resource Economics, or Transport Economics. Small group sizes and close supervision define the learning environment. The programme has a strong research orientation: through project work and research-based seminars, students develop data-driven analyses in thematic areas including Innovation, Economic Policy, Globalisation, Sustainability, and Infrastructure. The Project Studies module is designed specifically to prepare students for the Master's thesis, in which they independently investigate an economic question at a high scientific level. Graduates are equipped for careers in the private sector, government ministries, and international organisations, or can proceed to a PhD or an academic career. The programme is offered at the University of Münster in Münster, Germany.
