Master in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation (EEC)

The Master's programme in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation (EEC) at the University of Potsdam covers the current state of research across ecology, evolutionary biology, and scientific nature conservation. The programme is research-oriented, with a strong emphasis on modern research methods alongside applied aspects. It focuses on organismic biology: whole organisms, their interactions with each other, and their relationship to the abiotic environment. Module courses span a wide range from theoretical foundations of ecology and evolution to applications in sustainability research and species conservation. Areas covered include aquatic and plant ecology, animal ecology, biodiversity research, molecular and organismic evolutionary biology, and scientific nature conservation. Students receive training in laboratory methods, field studies, and computer-supported modelling. Small group sizes support early contact with instructors. The programme runs over four semesters and can begin in either the winter or summer semester. The programme is based at the University of Potsdam in Potsdam, Germany.
