Doctorat Mathématiques appliquées

Graduates of the Doctorat Mathématiques appliquées often go on to careers in higher education, industry, or research institutions. The programme draws on expertise from the University of Saint-Étienne and the Jean Monnet University. Students pursue original research aligned with one of 8 research teams, some of whom are part of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) labs, including the Laboratoire d'Analyse et de Mathématiques Appliquées (LAMPA) and the Laboratoire de Mathématiques et de leurs Applications (LAMA). This programme requires a master's degree in mathematics or a related field, and typically takes three years to complete, including one year dedicated to coursework and two years focused on research and thesis preparation.

• Research specialisms include numerical simulation, mathematical modelling, and optimisation methods.
• Students have the opportunity to participate in seminars and conferences, both locally and internationally, with the participation of researchers from renowned institutions and universities.
• Students may also engage in teaching activities, contributing to the educational missions of the university.

3-year PhD is expected to lead to a careers in academia, industry or research.
