About the Program

The Doctoral Programme in Technology (DPT) at the University of Turku spans disciplines in natural sciences, technology, and humanities, including biosciences, computer sciences, industrial engineering and management, automation and electrical engineering, biotechnology, information and communication technology, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, and phonetics. Candidates may pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) with a major in biochemistry, food chemistry, industrial engineering and management, molecular biotechnology and diagnostics, molecular plant biology, phonetics, computer science, or information systems science. The Doctor of Science in Technology (DSc (Tech)) is available in majors including automation and electrical engineering, biotechnology, food development, sustainable biotechnological processes, information and communication technology, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, and industrial engineering and management. The doctoral degree includes a doctoral dissertation and its public defence, as well as 40 ECTS credits of postgraduate studies. The total workload corresponds to approximately three to four years of full-time work. The programme starts in September 2026 and is located at the University of Turku in Turku.
