Doctoral Programme in Population Health and Human Behaviour

The Doctoral Programme in Population Health and Human Behaviour is an interdisciplinary program that brings together diverse scientific and methodological approaches to study two broad areas: the causes, consequences, and distribution of health, well-being, disease, and disability in populations; and the causes and consequences of adaptive and maladaptive human behaviour and behaviour change. The program is open to professionals across health and behavioural sciences, including aspiring clinical scientists and both basic and applied researchers. It is coordinated by the Faculty of Medicine, with doctoral researchers primarily based at the Meilahti campus, though many conduct research at other campuses or at research institutes and hospital environments. Graduates are prepared for careers in research, healthcare, policy, industry, and organisations, equipped to meet the needs of complex and rapidly changing professional environments. The four-year program begins in September 2026 at the University of Helsinki in Helsinki, Finland.
