About the Program

The MSc in Digital Health at the University of Potsdam is a four-semester interdisciplinary programme offered by the Faculty of Digital Engineering, which is jointly run by the Hasso Plattner Institute and the University of Potsdam. The programme sits at the interface of IT, computer science, and medicine, and is aimed at students from computer science and medical backgrounds who want to work in the health sector. The curriculum covers IT systems engineering, data engineering, the basics of medicine, and an understanding of different healthcare systems. Students acquire skills to analyse, design, and implement complex and secure IT systems and infrastructures for healthcare settings, and engage with ethical and legal issues relevant to health systems design. The programme is structured with 30% compulsory courses, 30% compulsory elective courses in specialisation areas, 5% compulsory electives in soft skills, 10% project lab, and 25% Master's thesis. To graduate, students must earn 120 credits, including 24 in Digital Health, 12 in bridge or other compulsory elective modules, 36 in two specialisation areas, 6 in soft skills, 12 in the digital health project lab, and 30 for the Master's project. Design thinking and entrepreneurship are integral parts of the curriculum. Entry is available at the winter semester start, and the programme is based at the University of Potsdam in Potsdam, Germany.
