This master's programme explores the Anthropocene, a concept that encompasses a range of environmental issues such as climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and ecological degradation. It is organised from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tours, which is home to the Centre for Research and Studies in Political and Social Sciences (CERCIP).

Through the study of key texts and debates—such as those around the Gaïa hypothesis and the 6th mass extinction—students will engage with contemporary societal and ethical challenges. The curriculum includes a detailed examination of the Anthropocene, discussions on the relationship between humans and the environment, and the development of a sustainable future. Participants will also engage in lectures and citizens' debates on subjects such as environmental ethics, ecological justice, and the global impact of human activity.
