Cybersecurity Operations

Each week you will spend around 11 contact hours attending live and recorded lectures, completing lab-based practicals and working on group assignments that simulate real-world incident response. You will develop and test scripts, analyse network traffic, and contribute to e-portfolios that document your approach to detecting and containing cyber threats. The blended format combines online synchronous sessions with an optional one-day per term on-campus tutorial, allowing you to network with peers and industry mentors.

The programme focuses on the processes and tools used when security controls fail and an organisation must react to a cyber-attack. It explores how to identify threat actors, apply incident-detection frameworks, and use data analytics, including machine learning, to spot anomalies in IT traffic. Developed with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, the certificate enables IT professionals to design response policies, evaluate forensic data, and strengthen secure architectures.
