Master in Culture, Ecology, Change (CEC)

Culture, Ecology, Change (CEC) is a four-semester master's programme in the environmental humanities that focuses on the connections between ecological crisis, cultural production, and language. The programme draws on ecocriticism and environmental humanities to examine contemporary theories and approaches to ecological and cultural change across a broad range of anglophone global and historical contexts. Students critically analyse current cultural narratives and artefacts, contrasting them with alternative framings and counter-narratives, with the aim of understanding how narratives might function as blueprints for cultural change. The programme explicitly addresses the intersections of climate change, migration, colonialism, uneven development, and access to resources. Entry is in the winter semester, and the programme runs for four semesters. The programme is based at the University of Rostock in Rostock, Germany.
