Each week you will attend lectures and seminars, practise counselling techniques in role-play labs and reflect on sessions through supervised small-group workshops. You will develop listening, empathic and therapeutic skills while studying theory and practising interventions.

A key component is a placement portfolio of 100 clinical client hours, carried out under the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) ethical framework. This work gives you real-world experience of providing support in a safe, confidential environment.

The programme brings together a diverse student community and includes input from Comensus volunteers who have accessed mental health services, ensuring you engage with a wide range of perspectives. It is suited to anyone wishing to work in counselling, psychotherapy or related helping professions.
