About the Program

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Saarland University is a 6-semester programme that admits a limited number of students through a competitive process. The first two years cover a mandatory foundation including mathematics (calculus, linear algebra, multivariate calculus and probability theory), programming (functional and imperative), system architecture, theoretical computer science, algorithms and data structures, elements of machine learning, big data engineering, and concurrent programming. From the fourth semester onward, students specialise by selecting from more than 20 core courses in areas such as artificial intelligence, computer graphics, visual computing, complexity theory, software engineering, databases, compilers, and others. Advanced courses allow students to engage with topics close to current research. The programme concludes with a bachelor's thesis written in one of the research groups on campus. Part-time study is possible, and students are free to arrange their own course timetables. The programme is offered at Saarland University in Saarbrücken, Germany.
