Poznan University of Technology

Master in Computer science

Poznań, Poland Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Computer Science, offered as an M.Sc. in Computing, is a master's degree program at Poznan University of Technology, taught in English in Poznan, Poland, over 3 semesters (1,5 year). An entrance test is required for admission, held at the Poznan University of Technology campus, and during the admission process applicants can select a preferred specialization between Software Engineering and Cybersecurity, though selecting a specialization does not guarantee placement in that preferred track. The program traces its focus back to the discipline of software engineering, a term coined during a NATO conference in 1968 in response to problems associated with software development at the time; more than 40 years later, software is still frequently delivered late, over budget, and with defects that do not fully meet customer needs. The goal of software engineering as a discipline is to mitigate these problems by applying engineering methods to software development, and Poznan University of Technology has offered an M.Sc. program in Software Engineering since 1998, aiming to give graduates the knowledge and skills needed to perform key roles across the software development lifecycle. The 3 semester structure allows students to specialize in either software engineering practices or the growing field of cybersecurity, both of which address core challenges in building and protecting reliable software systems. Because the program is delivered entirely in English, it is accessible to an international cohort of computing graduates.
