Master in Computational Linguistics / Computerlinguistik

The MA in Computational Linguistics (ISCL) at the University of Tübingen focuses on current themes in computational linguistics research alongside practical skills. Topics covered in courses include grammar formalisms, machine learning, information retrieval, dialectometry, and computer-aided language learning. Project-driven work and term papers train students to solve problems on a rigorous academic basis. The 4-semester programme admits students in both the winter and summer semesters. Students who hold a BA in computational linguistics have considerable freedom in choosing their modules. Those coming from a background in only linguistics or only computer science are expected to take courses that fill the corresponding gap. External courses from departments such as computer science or general linguistics may count toward the degree with adviser approval at the start of the semester.
