About the Program

The Doctoral Programme in Communications Engineering at the University of Oulu provides a path to doctoral-level qualification for researchers working in wireless communications engineering. Research areas cover radio frequency engineering, signal processing and machine learning for wireless systems, wireless communications engineering across different layers, networking, and vertical applications of wireless systems, technologies, and networks. The programme is supported by the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC), established in 1995, which provides supervision and education through two research units: CWC - Radio Technologies and CWC - Networks and Systems. CWC leads the national 6G Flagship program. Doctoral students work within a research community that includes professors, senior scientists, postdoctoral researchers, and other doctoral students. The four-year programme is offered at the University of Oulu in Oulu, with intake from January 2026.
