Bachelor in Communicatie

Students at HZ's Communication programme learn from the start how to influence behaviour with clever communication, such as encouraging children to play outside or persuading sports clubs to offer healthier snacks. They learn to create impactful campaigns, tell compelling stories, and use online and offline media channels effectively. In the first year, students tackle real-world projects for businesses and organisations like YourSurprise, Dutch Bargain, gemeente Terneuzen, and the Voedselbank. The curriculum focuses on behaviour influence, campaign design, retail psychology, event organisation, and branding.

HZ's Communication programme is ranked as the best in the Netherlands by the Keuzegids 2026. Students work on projects for real businesses and organizations, developing campaigns, and learning to influence consumer behaviour through subtle 'nudges'. They also gain experience in eyetracking, design thinking, and content creation for social media and online marketing. In the second year, students even start their own business as part of the Student Startup project, with support from entrepreneurs and workshops. In the third year, students complete a 20-week internship and a minor, with opportunities to study abroad. The programme includes a strong focus on entrepreneurship, with opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills each year, including a minor in Entrepreneurship and the option to graduate within one's own business.

The programme prepares students for careers in communication, with graduates working in roles such as communication advisor, content marketeer, social media manager, or PR specialist. Students may also pursue a master's degree in Communication Studies, Media and Communication, or Cultural Studies, with the option to participate in a pre-master programme at Tilburg University to fast-track their entry into a master's programme.
