Master in Chemistry

The Master of Science in Chemistry at Dresden University of Technology is a four-semester, English-taught programme with intakes in both the winter and summer semester. It provides a broad theoretical and practical foundation across chemical disciplines and emphasises independent and interdisciplinary scientific work. The curriculum is divided across three taught semesters and a fourth semester dedicated to the Master's thesis and colloquium. Students select elective compulsory modules totalling 70 ECTS, distributed across two main module groups: Materials Chemistry and Biologically-Oriented Chemistry, with 20 to 30 credits required in each. A Cross-Sectional Field group contributes to both. Students must also complete ten credits from the Practical Application group and five to ten credits from the General Education Modules group. Two compulsory modules, Advanced Research Internship and Research Lab Class, account for ten credits each. The Master's thesis is worth 25 credits, and the corresponding colloquium carries five credits. Admission involves an aptitude assessment. The programme is based in Dresden, Germany.
