About the Program

The Bachelor of Engineering in Transportation Engineering provides students with competences in mechanical and automotive engineering, including the electrical engineering knowledge relevant to the rapid electrification of vehicles. Students learn to design automotive components and to operate the equipment and systems used in their production. The curriculum covers vehicle structures, components, and systems, manufacturing methods, engine operation, vehicle dynamics, and diagnostics, as well as automotive aftermarket services including maintenance, repair, workshop processes, and customer service. The programme also includes a strong foundation in natural sciences and mechanical engineering, with topics ranging from statics and strength of materials to machine design, computer-aided design (CAD), and materials engineering. Depending on the institution, students may specialise in areas such as automotive electrical engineering, vehicle design, aftermarket services, transport technology, vehicle inspection, or intelligent work machines. Studies are practice-oriented, and a significant part of learning takes place in laboratories alongside theoretical instruction. The programme starts in September 2026 and runs for four years. It is offered at Turku University of Applied Sciences in Tampere.
