This programme leads to a Journeyperson Certificate in Automotive Service Technician. Students complete four years of training combining on-the-job experience with classroom instruction. The programme prepares students to work in automotive repair and service across Alberta. Graduates are qualified to perform technical work in the automotive industry.

Four 12-month periods with 1560 hours of on-the-job training and nine weeks of classroom instruction each year. 80% on the job, 20% in classroom or lab.

Graduates work as Automotive Service Technicians, Service Writers, Service Managers, Fleet Managers, Shop Foremen, or start independent service businesses.

Minimum requirements: ELA 20-2, Math 20-3, Science 10. OR pass on all five Canadian GED tests. OR successful completion of AIT’s entrance exam.

On-campus, full-time, four years.
