About Master in Artificial Intelligence

For Master in Artificial Intelligence, applications close 15 Jul · 15 Jan.

Artificial Intelligence at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg is an internationally oriented master's programme taught entirely in English, focused on the mathematical and algorithmic foundations that underlie AI systems. Students learn to conceptualise, validate, develop, and implement AI methods including Deep Learning, Support Vector Machines, Markov Random Fields, Wavelets, Bayesian Networks, Bayesian reasoning, knowledge representation, pattern recognition, programme verification, and constraint-based programming. A central concern of the programme is understanding how AI systems behave in unexpected situations, building the ability to describe and predict system behaviour alongside the ability to question AI's implications for socially relevant problems. Running over 4 semesters from either the winter or summer semester, the curriculum is organised around three mandatory elective blocks: Advanced Methods, Knowledge Acquisition and Representation and Processing, and Learning and Reasoning. Students must take at least six credit points in each block, plus at least eight credits of seminars or laboratories, a general studies course, a mandatory internship, and a Master's thesis. The programme demands a solid background in theoretical computer science. Cooperation partners including the Lausitz Center for Artificial Intelligence, the Leibniz Institute for High Performance Microelectronics, the German Aerospace Center, Fraunhofer Institutes, and Rolls Royce offer opportunities for research projects and Master's thesis work during the programme. Graduates work in fields such as data science, mathematical and medical data analysis, machine learning method development, autonomous driving, intelligent control systems, and university or research department roles. This programme is offered at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg in Cottbus.
