About the Program

If you hold a 2:2 honours degree in a science or health-related subject, or have substantial relevant industry experience, the MSc in Applied Food Safety & Innovation offers a pathway to specialise in food safety auditing and product development. The course is aimed at graduates who wish to move into roles across the food supply chain, regulatory bodies or research.

The programme runs for one full year of full-time, in-person study. You will complete a set of compulsory modules – Research Skills and Ethics in Practice, Major Project, HACCP Development, Food Product Innovation and Applied Food Safety – each combining lectures, practical sessions and case studies. A work-based placement and optional Royal Society for Public Health Level 2 HACCP and Food Safety qualifications are embedded, giving you hands-on experience of auditing, product design and regulatory compliance.
