This four-semester Master's programme covers both experimental and theoretical aspects of quantum physics. Course topics include quantum optics and quantum matter, laser cooling and quantum gases, laser physics, superconductors and Josephson junctions, open and many-body quantum systems, mathematical quantum theory, and quantum information theory. Students also complete quantum lab work covering lasers and elements of quantum optics, superconductors, and photon statistics. The programme runs over two years and can begin in either the winter or summer semester, though a winter start is favourable. In the first year, students complete 60 ECTS credits through lectures, seminars, and lab courses. The second year is devoted to research within the Center for Quantum Science, culminating in a Master's thesis worth 30 credits alongside 30 credits for research-oriented skills. The thesis concludes with an oral scientific presentation of the results. Beyond the core curriculum, students select modules from a neighbouring field amounting to at least 6 credit points, which can be fulfilled through an industrial internship. Industrial internships are actively supported through contacts with high-tech companies in Germany, and credit points are granted for the placement. A journal club and a peer-learning seminar develop students' ability to discuss and present topics in quantum science. This programme is taught at the University of Tübingen in Tübingen, Germany.
