Hof University of Applied Sciences

Master in Textile Design (MA)

Hof, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The MA in Textile Design at Hof University of Applied Sciences is a three-semester programme that goes beyond textile design as a standalone discipline to examine how textiles and other materials can be combined to create new products, functional solutions, and aesthetic directions. The curriculum spans advanced surface design, innovative textile solutions, sustainability, eco-design, performance textiles, and marketability, approached through interdisciplinary collaboration across design, textile technology, and project management. The programme starts in the summer semester and runs over three semesters at the Münchberg campus. In the first and second semesters, students complete core compulsory modules alongside elective courses they choose from design and management/sustainability tracks. The third semester is devoted entirely to the master's thesis, which typically includes both a practical component and a supporting theoretical section on a topic developed in consultation with course lecturers. Students are individually mentored by their professors throughout the programme. Graduates are prepared for roles across fashion, sportswear, workwear, eco-design, accessories, interior design, architecture, automotive design, and self-employment in the textile and design sector. The programme is based at Hof University of Applied Sciences in Hof, Germany.
