Students complete 8 to 15 months of mentored externship placements in Chicago-area sport and performance settings. They work directly with athletes to develop mental skills such as confidence, focus, and self-awareness under the guidance of Certified Mental Performance Consultants. The program integrates academic study with applied training in mental performance and well-being. Coursework aligns with requirements for certification through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.

Focus areas include Mental Performance Consulting, Athlete Development, Cultural Sport Psychology, Wellness and Resilience, Performance Coaching, Biopsychosocial Aspects of Human Behavior.

The program requires 38 credits, including core coursework, field training seminars, and an externship series. Students complete a minimum of 400 hours of mentored externship experience across multiple semesters.
