Riverdale provides a quieter campus base in the Bronx, with tree-lined streets, cafés, and a strong campus feel. Van Cortlandt Park, covering more than 1,100 acres, is nearby. Midtown Manhattan is around 30 minutes away, giving students access to internships, museums, entertainment, cultural institutions, and networking opportunities. More than 80 clubs and organisations support involvement beyond classes, while the city and the Bronx provide opportunities to explore culture, history, food, and innovation.

This field prepares people to teach students in secondary grades, which may include grades seven through twelve, depending on school system or state rules. It may also prepare them to teach a full curriculum or a specific subject.

Graduates usually work as secondary school teachers. They may teach general classes or one subject, depending on their preparation and the school system.
