Master in Post-graduate Program for Agribusiness Global Human-resources Development (PPAGHD)

Saga, Japan Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The Post-graduate Program for Agribusiness Global Human-resources Development, known as PPAGHD, is a two-year master's degree at Saga University, taught in English with intake in either October or April in the city of Saga. Saga University was formed in 2003 through the merger of the former Saga University, founded in 1949, and Saga Medical University, founded in 1976, and it was incorporated as a National University Corporation in 2004. It is a comprehensive university with six faculties and seven graduate schools, enrolling around 5,800 undergraduate students and 790 graduate students, and it has produced more than 60,000 graduates. PPAGHD trains students to work in agribusiness with a global outlook, combining agricultural science with business, management, and human-resources perspectives relevant to international agricultural value chains. Coursework typically covers topics such as agricultural production and technology, agribusiness management, food supply chains, and the human-resources dimensions of running agricultural enterprises across different countries and markets. Students generally work toward a research-based master's thesis under faculty supervision, often focused on a specific agribusiness sector, country, or supply-chain question relevant to their background. Because the program is delivered in English, it is structured for international students without a prior Japanese-language requirement, while placing them within a Japanese national university's graduate school system. Graduates of PPAGHD are typically prepared for roles in agribusiness companies, agricultural development organizations, government agencies working on food and agriculture policy, and further doctoral study in agricultural or agribusiness-related fields.
