Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation is a health sciences discipline focused on assessing, treating, and preventing movement disorders and physical impairments resulting from injury, illness, disability, or aging. Students study human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, neurology, and therapeutic exercise techniques, alongside clinical training in the use of physical modalities such as manual therapy, exercise programs, and rehabilitation equipment. Coursework typically progresses from basic medical sciences toward clinical practice, including supervised placements in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and clinics. Graduates work as physiotherapists in hospitals, private clinics, sports medicine settings, and rehabilitation facilities, treating patients recovering from surgery, injury, neurological conditions, or chronic pain, and may continue into graduate study in physiotherapy specializations. The field requires both scientific understanding of the body and direct, hands-on clinical skill developed through supervised practice, and students typically build competence gradually across successive clinical placements. This program is a 4 year bachelor's degree taught in English at Istanbul Okan University in Istanbul, Turkey. English-medium instruction allows students to study medical and clinical terminology as used internationally in physiotherapy practice and literature.
