An 80-hour two-week practicum gives students direct exposure to the day-to-day operations of a workplace safety management system, allowing them to apply theory in real settings. The certificate covers core topics such as auditing safety management, contractor safety, disability and emergency management, ergonomics, law and ethics, incident investigation, industrial hygiene, risk management and safety management systems. It is suited to people entering the occupational health and safety field, those already working in the sector seeking to broaden their expertise, and candidates preparing for the Canadian Registered Safety Professional or Technician exams.
