Consumers want means of transportation to reflect their personality, their social status, and their aesthetic preferences. The Master is based on an idea of Walter De Silva, a master of Transportation Design who signed the evolution of the major brands of the VW group between 2007 and 2015.

Istituto d'Arte Applicata e Design (IAAD) is a private design institute founded in 1978. It is known for its focus on applied arts and design education, offering programs in fields such as industrial design, interior design, communication design, and transportation design. IAAD emphasizes innovation, industry collaboration, and a practical approach to learning, with strong ties to major design companies and professionals. The institute has campuses in Turin and Bologna, positioning itself as a key player in the Italian and international design education landscape.

IAAD, the Istituto d'Arte Applicata e Design, has taught design in Italy since 1978, on campuses in Turin and Bologna, the latter close to Bologna Centrale station. It has been a member of AD Education, an international network of 14 design schools, since 2012, and works with a network of more than 5,000 industry partners across design, communication and transportation.

How tuition works

This catalogue lists 16 of its degrees, split between bachelor's and master's programmes in design, communication, fashion management and transportation. Extra-EU students pay a flat annual fee of €13,800 for the bachelor's programmes, made up of enrolment, tuition, an educational service charge and a device fee; IAAD states on its own site that master's fees are also annual, though it publishes those figures on request rather than on a public fee sheet.

Turin and Bologna

You can study on either of IAAD's two campuses: Turin, the school's original home, or Bologna, close to the city's main train station. Degrees are awarded as Academic Diplomas and Master's degrees under Italy's AFAM-ISIA system for higher art and design education, giving you legal recognition equivalent to Italian university qualifications in the field.
