Master Sciences De La Vision — M1 Sciences de la Vision (PR1158)

Gif Sur Yvette, France Taught in French Open to international students

About the Program

Université Paris-Saclay offers Master Sciences De La Vision, with its first year, M1 Sciences de la Vision, taught in French at the university's Orsay site. Vision science is a field that studies the eye and the visual system, covering the anatomy and physiology of vision, the optics involved in how light is processed by the eye, and the clinical and technical aspects of correcting and treating vision problems. Students in a program of this kind typically study ocular anatomy and physiology, optics and optometry, visual perception, and the technologies used to measure and correct vision, alongside the biological mechanisms underlying eye disorders. Coursework often covers the design and function of corrective lenses and optical instruments, methods for assessing visual function, and the interaction between vision science and related fields such as neuroscience and biomedical engineering. Many programs in this area also introduce research methods used to study visual perception and eye health, preparing students for further specialization or applied work in the vision care sector. Graduates commonly pursue careers in optics and optometry, research roles in vision science laboratories, positions in companies developing optical instruments or corrective lenses, or further clinical training related to eye care. Some continue toward doctoral research in vision science or related biomedical fields. As the M1, this track is the first year of a two-year master's degree at Université Paris-Saclay, beginning in September, with annual tuition of 250 EUR. Because instruction is delivered in French, students should be comfortable studying optics, anatomy, and vision science concepts in French while based at the Orsay campus.
