Trier, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The MSc in Natural Language Processing at Trier University trains students to work with digitally-mediated language across its full range, from written text to audiovisual and social media content. The programme is interdisciplinary, combining linguistics with artificial intelligence, and covers machine learning, semantic technologies, knowledge graphs, and methods for analysing, managing, and generating text and media. Alongside these technical foundations, students also engage with mathematics, computer science, and elective modules in areas such as Digital Humanities and Digital Libraries. The curriculum distinguishes between theoretical grounding and practical application. Students develop the ability to implement computational methods using software libraries, evaluate them experimentally and theoretically, and reflect on their societal and scientific implications. The programme runs over 4 semesters, with entry in either the winter or summer semester. Module types include compulsory introductory and propaedeutic courses, elective courses across AI, computational linguistics, and data science, research case studies, and a Master's thesis. The programme is offered by the CLDH department at Trier University in Trier, Germany.
